European Commission Director General for Trade David O’Sullivan has been the EU's chief negotiator since 2005, witnessing the ups of the boom and the downs of the current global economic crisis. Having previously served as Secretary General of the European Commission his career includes substantial experience both in trade and in European politics, giving him unique perspectives on today’s biggest trade issues as well as what the future may hold. Director General O’Sullivan will speak on challenges to EU trade policy in the wake of the financial crisis, the crucial importance of the Doha Development Agenda and the recent approval of the Lisbon Treaty, which makes significant changes to EU decision-making structures, including on trade.
