First Annual Dinner
WITA hosts its first Annual Dinner, launching what would become Washington’s premier gathering for the global trade community.

The Foundation Is Incorporated
The Washington International Trade Foundation is established as WITA’s 501(c)3 sister organization, supporting WITA’s educational mission and co-sponsoring the Annual Dinner.

1999
WITA Moves to the Ronald Reagan Building
WITA was among the first trade organizations to move to the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center shortly after its completion, where it continues to host programs on key historical trade topics today.

First Conference
WITA hosts its first annual Washington International Trade Conference (WITC) at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, bringing together leaders in trade, government, and industry to discuss the trade landscape, a flagship event that continues today.

Transition to Online/Webinars
WITA shifted its programming online, launching regular virtual policy webinars.

First Academy Programs
WITA Academy holds its first Pathways to Opportunity™ program in partnership with the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, introducing students to career opportunities in international trade, the start of the Academy’s university partnerships nationwide.

WITA Goes Global
WITA International launches at the Trade Reception during the 2024 WTO Public Forum in Geneva, Switzerland, marking the start of its expansion into trade capitals around the world.

Trade & Tech Summit
WITA hosts its inaugural Trade & Tech Summit, bringing together public and private sector leaders to explore the nexus between trade, innovation, national security, competitiveness, and geopolitics.

Podcast Launch
In response to the abundance of trade news driven by tariff developments, WITA launches WITA’s Friday Exchange Podcast, convening former USTR colleagues and other trade experts to discuss the week’s trade news in a laid-back format.

Brussels
WITA International expands its global presence to Brussels, hosting its first EU Trade Reception following the European Commission’s Trade Policy Day, building on WITA’s growing network of international programs alongside Washington and Geneva.

No, this is a virtual event. You will receive a Zoom link to join virtually.
Can students join WITA events?
Yes, students are encouraged to join to learn more about trade policy. All of our programs are free to attend for active students. Please register using your student email account.
What if I want to upgrade or switch tiers later?
If you would like to upgrade or switch membership tiers, you can adjust your level of membership in the “Subscriptions” tab. How long does membership last?
WITA memberships last for one year and renew annually from the date of purchase. Please reference our memberships page to learn more about becoming a WITA member.
