The Washington International Trade Association (WITA) is the premier non-profit, non-partisan trade membership association in the world dedicated to fostering open and inclusive discussion of international trade and economic issues.

Based in Washington, DC, and spreading around the globe, WITA (pronounced “oui-ta”) convenes leading voices from government, business, academia, the press, and civil society to explore global trade developments, challenges, and opportunities. Through high-profile events, expert panels, educational programming, and community-building initiatives WITA provides a trusted platform for dialogue and collaboration.

WITA is growing — and so is the visibility of trade issues across the world stage. We’re looking for a savvy, creative communicator to help us amplify our voice and impact during a pivotal time in global trade conversations. This is a part-time position [that could turn into a full-time position]. The position is considered “hybrid,” not “virtual” – there is an expectation that this candidate can be in-person in the Washington, DC office on a semi-regular basis.

Key Responsibilities (not exclusive):

Communications Strategy

  • Working with WITA’s senior leadership, help guide the organization’s complete media strategy, including website design and management, membership communication, social media, event promotion, and content support.

Email Marketing & Newsletters

  • Draft, edit, and schedule weekly and event-specific email communications using Constant Contact or other emerging tools.
  • Draft, edit and schedule special announcements including sponsorship opportunities and one off communications.
  • Track metrics and engagement (opens, clicks, RSVPs, etc..)

Graphic Design & Visual Content

  • Create graphics for events, social media, and website (e.g. Canva, Adobe)
  • Maintain a library of branded templates for events and programs along with catalog of web images

Website Management

  • Regularly update content (links, pages, videos etc.)
  • Coordinate with the team to ensure timely posting of program information, sponsorship opportunities, and resources for all WITA initiatives, including WITA International, WITA Academy, Young Trade Professionals, etc.
  • Help maintain consistent formatting, branding, and functionality across all pages

Event Promotion & Outreach

  • Draft promotional language for programs, events, and sponsorship opportunities
  • Coordinate outreach to sponsors, members, and target audiences
  • Help ensure consistent messaging across platforms

Social Media

  • Create and schedule content across Twitter/X, LinkedIn, and Bluesky, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and other emerging platforms.
  • Promote upcoming events, highlight past programs, and share news from WITA, WITA Academy, and WITA International
  • Help develop creative campaigns around flagship events (Annual Dinner, Trade Conference, Geneva Reception, etc.)

Content Support

  • Take notes/screenshots during events to support recap posts and follow-up messaging
  • Support media across YouTube, Spotify, and other social media platforms.

Administrative Support

  • Support tracking of communications calendar and weekly production schedules
  • Help maintain lists and support outreach for marketing, sponsors, and stakeholders

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong writing and editing skills with a sharp attention to detail
  • Comfort with social media and digital marketing platforms, such as Constant Contact, WordPress, Canva, LinkedIn)
  • Proactive, organized, and comfortable managing multiple projects at once
  • Familiarity with nonprofit or membership-based organizations is a plus
  • Strong team player with a willingness to learn and pitch in across tasks
  • Awareness of the evolving news and policy environment related to trade, tech, geopolitics, and the global economy is a plus
  • Willingness to contribute ideas and think creatively about digital engagement and audience growth
