Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM (EST)
WITA Webinar WITA Hybrid Event - The Lindner Family Commons, 6th Floor, Elliott School, 1957 E St NW, Washington, DC 20052

Please Join WITA in partnership with the Institute for International Economic Policy for a hybrid event on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, where the former Congressman James Bacchus will discuss that the World Trade Organization is undergoing an existential crisis. He will explain how to bring the WTO into the twenty-first century, exploring the ways it can be utilized to combat future pandemics and climate change and advance sustainable development, all while continuing to foster free trade.

Welcoming Remarks:

Alyssa Ayres, Dean of the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University, former senior fellow for India, Pakistan, and South Asia and current adjunct senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations

Featured Speakers:

James Bacchus, Distinguished University Professor of Global Affairs, Director of the Center for Global Economic and Environmental Opportunity of the University of Central Florida, founding judge and twice Chairman of the Appellate Body of the World Trade Organization

Moderator, Jay Shambaugh, Professor of Economics and International Affairs, and Director of the Institute for International Economic Policy at the Elliott School of International Affairs, George Washington University, faculty research fellow at the NBER and Non-Resident Senior Fellow in Economic Studies at Brookings
