WITA International

WITA International was launched in 2024 at the WITA International Trade Reception held during the WTO Public Forum in Geneva. That inaugural event underscored a known and growing reality of global trade policy: decisions made in Washington, DC matter around the world, and developments from around the world matter in Washington, DC.

Building on that foundation, WITA International has evolved into a broader platform for sustained international engagement. Today, it serves as a two-way bridge between Washington, DC and key global trade communities. The goal is to bring international perspectives into U.S. trade discussions while ensuring that Washington-based perspectives are shared with audiences abroad.

Through WITA International, WITA is expanding its reach beyond Washington while reinforcing its role as the central convening organization for the international trade policy community. These programs emphasize the interconnected nature of trade policymaking and ensure that WITA members, sponsors, partners, and stakeholders remain informed, engaged, and globally connected.


Sponsors of WITA International support the mission through programs that include international receptions, globally focused webinars, tailored intensive trade seminars, and the embassy and ministry network. WITA International sponsorships also enable government officials, diplomats, and ministry representatives to attend all of these programs at no cost. 

  • Global Webinar Platform: Regionally focused webinars originating outside of Washington, DC. Programs spotlight trade developments, policy debates, and regional priorities from around the world. Through these programs, WITA International brings forth timely, on-the-ground perspectives to inform U.S. and global trade discussions.

  • In-Person Engagement Abroad: WITA International convenes in-person events in key global trade hubs to foster dialogue between international trade professionals and Washington-based policymakers, experts, and stakeholders. These events are often developed in partnership with external partners and organizations such as the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA).

  • WITA International Trade Receptions: Hosted in conjunction with major international trade meetings and forums, these flagship networking events bring together trade officials, experts, and business leaders from around the world. The receptions serve as opportunities to build out the global community of trade policy professionals. Most notably, WITA International hosts an annual reception held during the WTO Public Forum in Geneva, Switzerland.

  • International Intensive Trade Seminars (ITS): A global extension of the WITA Academy’s signature Intensive Trade Seminar program. The programs feature customized, in-depth sessions addressing regional trade issues, sector-specific challenges, and evolving policy frameworks. Designed for government officials, companies, and practitioners, the seminars provide insights to navigate the ever changing trade policy environment.

  • Embassy and Ministry Network (EMN): WITA’s Embassy and Ministry Network provides a dedicated forum for embassy officials, ministry representatives, and policymakers to engage with the Washington, DC trade community. Through expert-led discussions and briefings, EMN promotes sustained dialogue on key trade and economic issues and strengthens collaboration between international officials and U.S.-based stakeholders.
