WSJ: Canada’s Foreign Minister Voices Concerns Over U.S. Trade Proposals

Canada’s Foreign Minister voiced her opposition Wednesday to a proposed border-adjusted tax championed by senior Republican lawmakers in Congress, and warned the country would “respond appropriately” should its exports suddenly face U.S. tariffs.

Tariffs “would be mutually harmful to both Canada and the U.S.,” Chrystia Freeland told reporters via a teleconference from Washington, following two days of talks that were capped by a meeting with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.
