Rare earths–what are they, what is China’s role in the global marketplace, and what should America do about it? What did the US do wrong in the 5G rollout and how should it change its approach for 6G? And, what to do about Huawei?

To discuss, Jordan Schneider be recording the first-ever live episode of SupChina’s ChinaEconTalk podcast with Martijn Rasser. Martijn, currently at CNAS, worked on foreign emerging technologies and tech innovation at the CIA.

Speakers:

Martijn Rasser is a Senior Fellow in the Technology and National Security Program at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS). Prior to joining CNAS, Martijn served as a senior intelligence officer and analyst at the Central Intelligence Agency, where he worked on foreign emerging technologies, technology innovation, and weapons research & development. He also served as a senior advisor in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, special advisor to a senior military commander in the Middle East, chief counterterrorism liaison to a US military unit in Iraq, and vice-chairman of a National Intelligence Council (NIC) working group.

Jordan Schneider is the host of the ChinaEconTalk podcast and newsletter. Jordan was a Yenching Scholar and currently works at a large social media tech firm in Beijing. He previously worked at the Eurasia Group and Bridgewater.
