Trade is central to Trump’s economic approach. He’s sought to rework existing deals, realign trade relationships and challenge China for supremacy in the tech-based economy of the future. But his aggressive use of tariffs has injected uncertainty into global trade flows, provoked allies and scrambled the domestic politics surrounding trade. Democratic presidential candidates must decide whether they support his approach or want to push for something different.
