Will Brexit spark a new scramble for Africa? Certainly, that was the impression left by the Prime Minister during her recent visit to the continent in which she pledged an extra £4 billion of UK government investment and spoke of her ambition for the UK to overtake the US and become the G7’s biggest investor by 2022. As Britain sets about winning new trade deals across the world, Africa, with its rapidly growing population, high proportion of young people, and fast economic growth, is a prime opportunity for British firms. Africa is also, of course, a major recipient of the UK’s £14 billion aid budget. Read more here
