In remarks delivered to the Washington International Trade Association on 9 February, Deputy Director-General Alan Wolff said the WTO must be able to deliver soon and visibly on issues such as ensuring trade in essential goods during a health crisis, facilitating economic recovery and addressing climate change. While these are challenging issues, “We should be careful not to overstate that which divides the Members of the WTO,” he declared. DDG Wolff’s remarks are below:

I thank WITA for this opportunity to speak to you today on the challenges that the world of trade faces now and America’s place in the world trading system.

President Biden told us in his Inaugural Address that  “It’s time for boldness, for there is so much to do.” He said: “This is certain, I promise you: We will be judged, you and I, by how we resolve these cascading crises of our era.”
