Taiwan Shifting Attention to Biden in Push for Trade Deal

Taiwan hopes its new economic dialogue with the United States will help make the case for President-elect Joe Biden to agree to begin talks on a bilateral free trade agreement, a top Taiwanese official said on Thursday.

“Of course, we would like to see a free trade agreement with the U.S.,” Taiwan Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs Chern-Chyi Chen told POLITICO ahead of the first meeting on Friday of the U.S.-Taiwan Economic Prosperity Partnership Dialogue.
