Trade War Threat Is Pushing Companies Toward A New Strategy Of Localization, Study Finds

The threat of global trade wars and the protectionist movement that’s reared its head in different pockets of the world have sent global companies, including retailers and CPG brands, to rethink their globalization strategy and quickly hop on board the localization train, a study has found.

In a 33-page study titled “Competing In the Age of Multi-Localism” and released Wednesday, global management consulting firm ATKearney said mounting trade tariffs and other pressures have upended the global strategy – think mass-market production and achieving economies of scale – that has been a business hallmark since the early 1990s.
