GENEVA, May 24 (Reuters) – Turkey has told the World Trade Organization that it is cutting tariffs on certain U.S. goods after the United States halved its tariff on Turkish steel to 25%, a Turkish filing published by the WTO showed on Friday.

The White House last week terminated Turkey’s eligibility for the Generalized System of Preferences (GTS) programme, in a move Turkey said contradicted trade goals, but also halved some of the tariffs it had raised last August amid a diplomatic row between the NATO allies.

Turkish sources told Reuters earlier this week that Turkey would cut its own tariffs in return.
