U.S. Treasury Said to Release Currency Policy Report Wednesday

The U.S. Treasury Department is poised to release its much-awaited foreign-exchange policy report to Congress on Wednesday afternoon, according to an administration official. The semi-annual review of currency regimes of the U.S.’s 12 major trade partners and Switzerland will be released on Treasury’s website late in the day in Washington, the official said, declining to provide timing. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity. Treasury is poised to render a verdict on President Donald Trump’s claim that China is manipulating its currency. While the U.S. hasn’t designated China as a currency manipulator since 1994, Wall Street is bracing for the prospect that Treasury will do so this week.
