U.S. IMPORTS FROM RUSSIA BACK NEAR PRE-INVASION LEVELS: The United States, the EU and G-7 countries imposed a number of sanctions on Moscow in the aftermath of the 2014 invasion of Crimea and evidence of Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. election campaign.

Those reduced Russia’s ability to access financing in the financial, energy, and defense sectors, as well as limited its access to certain technologies in those sectors. The U.S. also has imposed a number of unilateral sanctions on Russia or Russian entities.
